Alexa grew up with a pony while taking dance classes in her home town, Hampshire. She later joined secondary state school at the Perins School and proceeded to Peter Symonds College in Winchester. Toping up er education, she attended King’s College in London to study English and later Chelsea College of Arts to study art.

At the age of 16, Chung was scouted after she was spotted in the comedy tent at the Reading Festival. She modelled for teen magazines like the Elle Girl and CosmoGIRL. Furthermore, she worked for big companies including Fanta, Sony Ericsson, Urban Outfitters, and Tampax.

Alexa also rose to fame after featuring in music videos for artists including the Streets, Westlife, Delta Goodrem, Reuben and Holly Valance. Going a step further, Jake featured in a scripted reality show, Shoot Me, a program that broadcast on Fashion TV in 2005.

However, after four years in modelling, Chung quit modelling with the main aim of starting a foundation or fashion journalism course. This was after she developed low self-esteem through modelling.

After she fully transited to the reality television, Chung made a return to occasional modelling. For instance, in 2008 she was the face of Australian fashion label Antipodium’s SS 2008 collection.

In September the same year, she catwalked as part of the Vivienne Westwood Red Label Spring/Summer 2009 show at London Fashion Week. Earlier the following year, Chung became the face of British High Street giant New Look, She then joined London-based modelling agency Select Model Management. In April 2009, she modelledWren’s Holiday 2009 collection alongside her friend Tennessee Thomas.

Months after, Chung moved to Next Model Management to be the face of DKNY Jeans. Furthermore, she served as the face of South Korean brand MOGG’s Spring/Summer 2010 campaign. In January 2010, she served as the main model of the spring/summer 2010 Pepe Jeans London campaign recasting her role for the Fall/Winter 2010 campaign.

Chung was named the first celebrity brand ambassador for Lacoste in June 2010, when she featured in both the Tv and print advertisements for their “Joy of Pink” fragrance. In January 2011, she was named the brand representative for Italian sneaker brand Superga. Moreover, she participated in the London Fashion Week show for designer Stella McCartney in February 2012 where she cast as the guest assistant to Hans Klok.

She also worked with Tommy Hilfiger as a guest editor for their Fall 2014 collection and modeling for their clothes. In 2013 and 2015, she was the brand face for Longchamp where she featured in her fourth campaign for the fashion brand.

Talking of style, Alexa has been a watch for many fashion designers because of her distinctive personal style. She has frequently featured on best-dress lists, where she works as a regular model for Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar.

In 2019, Mulberry, a designer handbag company launched the Alexa, a much sought-after bag aspired and named after her. Later in 2010, she was named in Tatler’s top 10 best-dressed list. In February 2020, she partnered with J. Crew’s Madewell on a womenswear line which was launched during the New York Fashion Week. She then partnered with Madewell for a second collection launched in September 2011.

In December 2010, Bryan Ferry, working for British Fashion Council presented Alexa with the British Style Award at a ceremony at the Savoy Theatre in London. This is an award recognizing an individual who embodies the spirit of British fashion. In addition, Chung won the British Style Award for three consecutive years; 2011, 2012, 2013. This was due to the public vote.
